The Next Generation Foundation of Maine

P. O. Box 441
Blue Hill, Maine 04614

In 2013 when we received $34 million from the founder's estate, after considering several options, we chose to give away all the money quickly and strategically.

In 2014 we awarded $30 million and in 2017 awarded what remained. We are overseeing the completion of a few grant projects.

We will no longer be awarding grants.

Some of the things we have funded:
Renovating buildings for new use
Energy upgrades (including solar), upgrades to meet code
Community centers, libraries, etc.
Seeding endowments as part of a larger endowment campaign
Mobile health services
Substance use disorder support services and treatment
Project start up

Education/training or scholarships in response to unmet needs
Organizations that incorporate volunteers in important ways
Support services for youth, new Mainers, the elderly
Multi-year grants (up to three years)
We fund capital projects, seed endowments, and help launch new programs in the areas listed. (We do not provide operating support.)
